Yesterday, 4/22/13, we brought Eliot to see Dr. Gegg at Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando, FL. He had a very good visit and was a very good boy during our time driving around trying to find the place. We went to several incorrect buildings before we finally got it right. He saw Erin a PA there and Dr. Gegg, they both said that he has Torticollis. Which in short means that he tends to favor one side of his head when laying down. The left side, which is very tight and needs to be worked on a little bit. Our concern with his favor to that side was that he was born with a fused skull and they would have had to do a major surgery. Thankfully, surgery will not be necessary and we can work with him at home on it.
Called Pediatrician this morning to see if they could recommend a good Pediatric PT in the area. We have a follow up appointment in 3 months with Dr. Gegg to check our progress. They both said that his head and neck are looking good and they do not feel that we will need to take any further measures. However, if his head is still not properly shaping after working with him, then we may need to use a "helmet" for about three months.
We are glad that we caught on to it so early in his development, as he is very moldable at this age. So, we are definitely relieved and look forward to helping our little guy be his best self.
